Our Furry New Family Member

This Thanksgiving weekend we went to pick up our new puppy!!  We had been thinking about getting a puppy for a while and after I found this bread I just fell in love.

Coton de Tulear - is a rare, ancient pure-breed dog.  They are not bred down to a small size, so they don't usually get the little dog attitude.  The Coton is a companion dog, Cotons are very intelligent, easy to toilet train, and uncommonly gentle and laid back.  I can not even begin to tell you how great he is with the boys.  He will follow us around and sit near our feet or crawl on laps when we sit.

They come in 3 colors - White, Black and White and Tri Color.  Frodo is a Tri-Color Coton with a coat of white, champagne and dusting of black hair.  They have hair not fur and it is super soft.  They are known for not shedding.  They are also a very calm dog and are known for seldom barking.  They are great with small children as well as other household pets.

A couple of my nephews came by this weekend to meet Frodo and he was great with them.

Of course getting a puppy is hard work.  I spent the first night laying on our hardwood floor outside of his crate.  Night two he spend about half the night in his crate and the other half laying just outside the crate door on his crate mat.  Finally last night he did wonderful in his crate and spent the whole night in there without whining except for potty breaks.  He got up 3 times last night to go potty but he didn't have any accidents in his crate.  We are all still getting use to remembering to take him outside frequently.  And today is gonna be his first day spending 4 hours in a crate for the morning while we work.  Yesterday he spent 2 hours in his crate while we were at church and did great.

He's an attention hog which while adorable can also be annoying.  We don't know why he whines sometimes which makes potty training tricky.  Sometimes he whines to go potty and sometimes its just because he misses being in our arms.

Here are some pictures I got of him this weekend.  The boys are so great with him (and he's great with the boys).

Graze Box

I heard about Graze box on one of my favorite mommy boards, where I pick up a lot of tricks and trips for parenthood and life.  Graze.com is brand new and not even open to the public yet.  Its another one of those box subscription websites, they have them for everything, for clothing, organic food, makeup, even kids fun/adventure boxes, books, you name it, I'm sure its out there.  Graze is for healthy natural snacks.  They send you samples depending on your likes and dislikes and frequency.  I opted for the box sent to the house every 2 weeks.  The best part?  the first box was free, another bonus?  the 5th box is free, so I get 5 boxes for $15!  So why did I sign up for this?  Well my kids love getting mail, but they are horrible at trying new foods.  So I thought maybe if these foods came in a cute package in the mail they might try it.  Oh and there's chocolate involved (as you can see on Cullen's face).  Check out the pics, the boys were so excited to open up the packages and try the goodies.

Fun in the Snow

Happy New Year!!  We are enjoying our time off and our special time together and what better way than to play outside!  My boys love being outside and a little snow isn't going to stop them.  Cullen's latest thing is always wearing some type of eye wear, I guess its his new style.  Today it was his tool workshop goggles, and I guess he's pretending they are ski goggles, sooo cute!

He's all bundled up but not really happy about his boots getting snow on them, silly boy!

Caleb is always the one that gives me a run for my money when I get the camera out, but I got him!

Going to the Park

I need to get better at blogging every day things.  Over Labor Day weekend we did a lot of family things together, one little one was visiting one of our favorite parks.  Unfortunately as we went for our family bike ride we realized that there was a HUGE mosquito invasion on the bike trail so we had to cut that short.

Enjoy the pics!

even daddy got in on the fun!

Our Summer Vacation | Canadian Lakes Michigan

We had so much fun on our 2012 summer vacation.  This was the first time we rented a cottage just to ourselves for a week.  We decided to check out www.vrbo.com to rent a cottage somewhere in Michigan.  I found a very small cluster of lakes and we found a cottage on a small, no-wake lake.  The location was great, we had a gigantic private beach just ourside our backdoor.  The kids loved playing in the sand first thing in the morning.  Then as it heated up we moved into the lake where Caleb actually learned to swim.  In the evenings the boys loved throwing bread out to the crazy fish that would swim up and practically take it from your fingers.

I won't lie, it was super hot, we got a crazy heat wave that week, and no a/c in the cottage made it quite difficult.  We ended up leaving a few days early cause Cullen liked the lake water too much and swallowed a lot and got some tummy issues, that in combo with the no a/c made our minds up for us.

Anyway hope you enjoy some of these pictures.  We did lots of stuff on our trip, including putt putt golf, and visiting my Aunt and Uncle at their cottage about 1.5 hours south of us.  Caleb took his first ride on a jet ski and loved it (although I didn't get any pictures).

Little Man's birthday bash!

I had been planning Cullen's first birthday party for months, thanks to PINTEREST.COM I had a lot of inspiration (turned obsession). I would say that 99% or more of the party was DIY, it was a blast. We had an inflatable water slide thanks to my neighbor, and a Snowcone machine, thanks to the local rental place. We had great weather (albeit really really HOT), but I'm just glad it didn't storm like predicted. I think I might go into a post party depression because I won't have projects to do everynight. Must check pinterest for other DIY stuff to occupy my little moments of crafty time.

Enjoy the pictures, there are a lot of them!
